Spectacular Death Tabbard

Spectacular Death (A-Llane-US) is the total WOW experience with lots of fun at a casual pace. We see and go to all places in the WOW universe from classic to current content, PvP and arena. This is no-pressure raiding at its finest with friendly, helpful people interested in working through all WOW has to offer together. We will never have a realm first in any endgame, but we will have the most fun when we arrive. Our "race" to see everything is more of a saunter with an emphasis on fun. Our guild motto is "Here. Hold my drink and watch this," so you can see where our emphasis lies.

This guild is not for everyone, however. You must review the Code of Conduct before asking to join. It is also recommended that you read our Raiding Guidelines as well.

For any questions about the above information, please talk to Gimmlette or any officer. If you are interested in hopping on the bus for the ride, please fill out our application. You will be contacted by Gimmlette or the membership officer after the application is received.

This was in the Twitter-verse today and almost lost amidst the still numerous Sylvanas posts.

I missed, roughly, 700 of those days because I didn't start playing until October of 2006. I'm going to log onto all my toons, type /played, and tally up how many days I've played. I know. I know. I usually prohibit math, but this time, it's well worth it. Why don't you do the same? If you're brave, post your total, across all your toons, here.

Layeta On llane only, active toons only, 542 days, 4 hours, 22 minutes. That doesn't even count the three priests I level...
Gimmlette a So I did this BEFORE logging out for the night. Across all semi-active toons, I have played 818 days, 6 hours, 57 minute...
Jorsha No math involved! Altaholic totals it for you. I'm at 395 days, 10 hours and 39 mins. Or more scarily: 1 year &...

So very much has been going on, I forgot to publicize this. Our annual Terrapin 500 is upcoming on Saturday, August 25th.

For you new folks, we race 5 laps around Ironforge riding ONLY the sea turtle mount which drops from fishing in pools of Wrath era or higher. If someone has a level 3 garrison with attendant fishing shack, you can fish it up there. I think it's also a low drop rate reward from some fishing dailies.

Meet in Ironforge at 8:45 pm. Come in costume and get 50 gold for showing up. Winners of the races, because there are more than one, get 200, 150, and 100 gold, respectively.

Once we are done, we will be teleported to Dalran, and I haven't decided if we're going to do old or new this year, and we race around that 5 times. By the time of the race, we should have Boralus, the Alliance city in Battle for Azeroth, sort of known, so it might be fun to do a race there, if I can figure out a race course. Boralus isn't laid out with any kind of large circular configuration. It's along a coastline so it's mostly linear. There is a small section where it's circular but that's not real conducive to a race. In the past, we've always done old Dalaran, but it might be time to move to new Dalaran, where there might be more people. For sure there won't be many in Ironforge. There haven't been in years. But there are some things one must do for old times' sake and Ironforge is the best circular city in the game.

So, in the next few weeks, when you have a moment, hie thee to ye olde fishing hole and see if you can fish up a sea turtle. Or, dust it off, kick the um...feet. Make sure the engine is fine tuned. Spectactors are greatly welcome to cheer on the racers. If someone wants to be photographer or race announcer, I would love it. I wound up doing both last year and that wasn't a good thing. I have a sea turtle myself and would like to race, but it's important to have photos and an announcer. If you want to do one or the other of those tasks, talk to me.

Saturday, August 26th. Ladies and Gentlemen. Start. Your. Turtles!

Warbringer: Sylvanas

Gimmlette a posted Aug 1, 18

Well, if Blizzard wanted to stir up controversy, they did an exceptionally good job. The short Warbringer: Sylvanas released today.

I have merely posted a link to the cinematic and I won't spoil anything. If you've come here seeking advice or suggestions on how to do it, you need to start in Lor'danel. You'll pick up the quests there. This cinematic comes at the end of the quest line. One beef, if I'm supposed to turn in quests to an NPC, I really, really wish that NPC was stationary. Three of us followed an NPC around for a good 2 minutes trying to turn in our quests. Stop that, Blizzard.

This cinematic will not leave you on the fence. You will have reactions to what you see and learn. We are NOT to spoil what's going on by discussion in guild chat. This whole pre-patch has been lore heavy with a great many unanswered questions. Hey look! We have a Lore Chat room in Discord and quite a few of us hung out in there tonight. If you have lore questions or want to discuss what you've seen, please go there. You are also welcome to form party groups and discuss outside of regular guild chat. Remember, we have people with a wide variety of work schedules and they want to experience this as it's intended.

What's next? Next week, Alliance takes the battle to Lordaeron. If you have pre-purchased the expansion, you will be able to do this battle. You've seen it. It's the one from the BfA cinematic. Those of us who were in the beta tested it. We have some idea of what's going to happen, minus Thrall showing up with the Dragon Soul and knocking down Deathwing. You think I'm kidding. Every time there was a cinematic we weren't going to see, Blizzard substituted Thrall using the Dragon Soul to attack Deathwing. I'm kind of sad Deathwing isn't involved in this.

It is worth noting that doing these past two weeks of the War of Thorns nets you a mount. Once you have done the quests on one toon, the mount arrives for both Alliance and Horde toons. You'll get it, when you do the quest on the opposite faction, but you won't be able to learn it because you already have.

Also, you have to go through the quests and scenario on every toon. Unlike the original scenairo, which opened up the World Quests, this is simply bringing the war to its conclusion and so, every toon has to endure, if you will, the cinematic to complete the quest line.

These world quest go away on August 13th, when Battle for Azeroth drops. You will not be able to get the special mounts. The Sylvanas scenario with its cinematic will still be in the game, but all the special gear is gone. This has precedent, as those of us who worked through the pre-patch events for Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor can attest to. Eventually, perhaps, the mounts and the gear will be available via the Black Market Auction House, but if you want any of this stuff, you need to log in and do the quest lines.

Finally, this whole thing affects 110 and higher. If your toon is lower than this, Darnassus is not burned. Right now, brand new night elves can be created and will quest through Teldrassil. If you want to revert this timeline, a bronze dragon, Zidormi, has been added to the game.

Where the carrot is is Zidormi's location. Just click on the person and the whole area will revert to what it was before Sylvanas got there.

We will be talking about what happened for a long time. Until this coming Sunday, please do your talking in the Lore channel in Discord or in party groups. Let's give everyone a chance to experience this without spoilers.

Thanks.

P.S. I forgot this when I wrote the post. Once you have done the scenario, Teldrassil is off-limits. There is an invisible wall around it so flying from Lor'danel means you hit this wall in the fatigue zone. If you use a portal to Darnassus or have a hearth set there, both things deposit you on the beach where Ruth'eran Village used to be. I didn't try these. Tarsan did. We did not check what happens to the boat from Darnassus to Exodar. It will still be available for those who are low levels or who have not done the sceario or who revert the area. Someone should check for us.

A few months ago, Blizzard Watch put out the call for more writers. As with any company, people come and go. In an organization where full-time isn't a thing, people got busy and couldn't contribute as much as they have in the past. They felt they could take on a few more people to cover Battle for Azeroth and all the other Blizzard games. If you paid any attention to events in the Blizzard world last week, the first Overwatch Championship was broadcast LIVE on ESPN. This is huge, even if many Twitter people were, "What the heck is this?"

After thinking about it for, roughly, two weeks, I decided to apply. I nervously filled out the form, wrote a quick 300 words on our upcoming drive for hippo mounts, and then stewed for 2 hours before finally hitting "Send". Then, I promptly forgot about it.

That was probably a good thing because, on Friday, July 27th, I was invited to join the Blizzard Watch staff as a part-time writer. To say I was overwhelmed, was an understatement. I actually opened, closed, opened, and closed my email account and clicked on the email from Adam Holisky three times before it finally dawned on me it wasn't a joke. It is a paying position. I have writing assignments. You thought you were guinea pigs before; brace yourselves.

I didn't say anything because I didn't know when I would be officially brought on-board. So many things to read and sign. Then, I jumped into the potential post section and, wouldn't you know it, there's a topic on one of my, and the officer corps, irritations about the patch. So, I wrote about it. Forthwith, here is my first story for Blizzard Watch. (Follow the link in the previous sentence to the actual article. Below is just a screen grab.)

I am very excited to be a part of the staff. Please send Elizabeth Harper (Faience) positive vibes because she gets to edit me. There's quite a bit to learn about posting, but you can expect to see some of the over 7300 screenshots in my screenshot folder used as headers in what I write. I will probably wind up, once I get going, cutting back on my WOW time because I'll need to write, but that won't affect the running of the guild. I'm still here; still active; still looking for creative ways to die.

If you follow the guild Twitter, @SpecDeath, you'll see that is not the Twitter under my name. I've had this Twitter name for years, but hadn't used it. You're welcome to follow this account, too. It will be, mainly, for Blizzard Watch and Blizzard-related items. @SpecDeath is where I post cat photos and announcements and screenshots of what the guild is doing.

Thanks to everyone in game last night, for your warm congratulations. Expect the shenanigans of Spectacular Death to show up in more than one post.

Transmog Contest Winner

Gimmlette a posted Jul 31, 18

We had our monthly transmog contest last Friday. We went to old Nagrand, to the site of the carp soccer game from a Miz Special of several months ago. The theme this month was "Dress as a fish or in the colors of one of the World Cup Soccer teams". We had a great turn-out.

Left to right: Tarsan, Brighide, Aeliel, Gizmo, Gimmlette, DorvakLynx, and Connacher.

Jaxdia, in the form of Lianth, was the judge, owing to her win last month.

She chose Gimmlette at the winner of this month's contest.

She said it was on the strength of the gun.

Couldn't you just see a row of hunters, equipped with this gun, lined up in front of the horde? Behind them, a row of hunters with tridents. That would be glorious and an amazing screenshot.

Second place went to Connacher and Aeliel (Perki). Third place was DorvakLynx, who dressed in the colors of Spain. You can see all the contestants, here

Next month is going to be horde only. It is Deathtacular's 10th anniversary. The contest date is Friday, August 10th. This contest is EARLIER than others because I've heard something is happening on the 13th-14th. We will meet in Orgrimmar. The theme is "Make a tmog to scare Alliance".

So, because I'm the judge, scare me.
