Spectacular Death (A-Llane-US) is the total WOW experience with lots of fun at a casual pace. We see and go to all places in the WOW universe from classic to current content, PvP and arena. This is no-pressure raiding at its finest with friendly, helpful people interested in working through all WOW has to offer together. We will never have a realm first in any endgame, but we will have the most fun when we arrive. Our "race" to see everything is more of a saunter with an emphasis on fun. Our guild motto is "Here. Hold my drink and watch this," so you can see where our emphasis lies.

This guild is not for everyone, however. You must review the Code of Conduct before asking to join. It is also recommended that you read our Raiding and Loot Guidelines as well.

For any questions about the above information, please talk to Gimmlette or any officer. Officers are listed under the "SD Guide" section of the web site menu. If you are interested in hopping on the bus for the ride, please fill out our application. It's under the "Join Us" button at the upper right. You will be contacted by Gimmlette or the membership officer after the application is received.

Caption This

Gimmlette ao posted May 6, 18

It's time for another "Caption This" contest. Here's the photo in need of a caption.

As a prompt, in your caption, answer this question, "What are they guarding or waiting for?"

"Caption This" contests work thusly:

1)  The contest starts today and will run a bit longer than other "Caption This" contests. It closes Sunday, May 27th. This gives you a lot of time to come up with a caption, or two, or three.

2)  You can enter as many captions as you like.

3)  All captions must be posted to this thread. Captions posted to this photo will not count.

4)  Each caption must be a separate entry. It makes scrolling through for judging much easier.

5)  I will be the judge. Winners will be announced on Monday, May 28th, when a NEW and EXCITING contest will be announced. Winners will get shiny stuff, and boy to we have a lot of shiny stuff to give away. (Side note: if you can make shiny stuff, I am happy to accept it and stick it off-site. Thanks to guild members, we have pets and mounts and bags and all sorts of things to give away. We are always on the look-out for more.)

So, have at it. I want to see your captions.

Don't Forget

Gimmlette ao posted Apr 29, 18

This past weekend, we went back into Antorus to push farther into the raid. Our task was to down Imonar.

It took all evening, but we did it.

Thanks for coming along everyone. Imonar is the final boss of the second wing. At our next Antorus raid, Tuesday, May 10th, we will start with Kin'goroth. We're still not pushing to finish Antorus before Battle for Azeroth drops, but making progress like this, gives us hope we can.

Towards that end, I hate to have to point this out, but people seem to be forgetting. You must have your gear gemmed and enchanted. So many of you have pieces which are not gemmed or enchanted. That little extra makes all the difference. Remember the 7% wipe on Imonar? That might not have happened if everyone had been gemmed and enchanted. We are completely self-sufficient here so if you need enchants and gems, just ask. If you don't have a clue what kind of gem or enchant you need, ask. The wealth of knowledge in this guild will give you all sorts of ideas. I believe we might need some arkana in the bank for enchants.

The other thing to remember is the Netherlight Crucible.

Remember this thing? If you have received any kind of a relic upgrade, you need to go to the crucible and upgrade your weapon. I don't know why I checked but when I did, I discovered I hadn't upgraded any of my relics. The whole point of the crucible is to give your weapon, and, by extension, yourself, more power. So, the next time you're on the Vindicar, take a moment and make sure your weapon is fully upgraded.

The schedule for May is up on the calendar. It's going to be quite wacky because of officers being away. We've put quite a few different things on the schedule, but there will be only one Antorus raid because of schedules. Please take a moment to review the schedule and sign up to come.

Best Beta Photo

Gimmlette ao posted Apr 29, 18

With the release of the beta, quite a few more of you have received invitations to the dance. Spectacular Death is on the beta server, Anduin. You are very welcome to come join us. As of Saturday night, we had 14 names in the guild. Every person can invite. Just do a "who" and "Spectacular Death" and you can see if someone is online. Also, if you ask in guild chat, we can hop over and invite your toon(s).

Once dungeons and raids are announced, I'd like to try to test them. In the alpha, we were able to test what is going to be the PvP scenario. Neo pulled the worm and nearly got himself killed. It's an interesting scenario, one which some of you will like and some of you will hate.

More quests are open than in the alpha. I see they fixed one of the big bugs I noticed, where a boat went through an island. On the other hand, there is a bug where a boat collides with the side of a tower. I found that quite amusing.

I haven't found a poop quest, but I did find this.

There is no quest associated with this, yet, because you just never know what's coming when the game goes live. The guy on the right is banging on the door. Neither of the men talk to you when clicked on.

There's a lot of new details in the game now. It's been fun to poke around in places where I quested during in the alpha and see new things.

I'm excited for you to see what's coming.

Tmog Champion

Gimmlette ao posted Apr 29, 18

The monthly transmog contest was held last Friday. The theme was "Make a tmog with Pepe". Winterlight won the contest with her witchy transmog. In order to get the right Pepe to go with her costume, she had to summon him 7 times.

If you'd like to see the rest of the entrants, you can go to the thread and scroll to page 2. Gwydion and Gimmlette were in 2nd place, with Connacher in 3rd.

Thanks to everyone who entered. The theme for May 2018 is

Tmog with a NON-SD tabard.

So You Want a Hippo

Gimmlette ao posted Apr 18, 18

Datamining by WOWHead has found a hippo mount.

This is the Vicious War Hippo. After posting this on Facebook, so many of you were "I MUST HAVE THIS MOUNT!" In talking with Minathelan, we know how you can get it. I hope you're sitting down.

Arena or Rated Battlegrounds

When the turn in to get the mount is a saddle, that's a clue this is not your run-of-the-mill mount. "Vicious" in the title is also a clue that it comes from PvP.

So, what do you need to do?

In order to get this you will have to win 40 rated battlegrounds or 100 Arena matches.

Yes, I hear your collective groan. Well, it's been the same since Mists of Pandaria, so Mina doesn't think it's going to change and WOWHead doesn't have requirements currently listed. We'll go with how you got current and Mists steeds.

We can do this but it's going to require dedication and commitment. If we want to try the rated BG route, we MUST have 10 people who will ALWAYS come (excepting real life stuff, of course) to RBG nights. If we have more than 10 people, great. We'll rotate people in and out so everyone gets a win.

If we want to go the Arena route, the most popular is 3v3. You don't NEED a healer for each team. In fact, we would not have hard teams. Everyone goes into the pot and we just pick teams based upon who shows up. A note on how we run PvP, for those of you who may have never done that with us. Your skill matters little to us. We are in this a) for a hippo, and b) for fun. You will never hear us berate, belittle, or complain about you. We don't do that.

The key here is "time committment". I am happy to put it on the schedule twice monthly. We can run it during the week as well as a weekend, for those who can't make week day events. But you HAVE to decide you are going to do this and you HAVE to commit to showing up AND to helping everyone who wants a hippo, get a hippo.

Also, if this is a thing we want to do, we will be starting as soon as the PvP season opens in Battle for Azeroth. We are not hardcore PvP'ers regardless of the guild joke. If we wait until we feel "comfortable", we will spend the entire expansion spinning our wheels. Arena and RBGs attract the kind of people who dedicate their time to that aspect of the game. They are hardcore. We're just in this to try to get a hippo.

Therefore, you need to think about this. How willing are you to dedicate the time and energy it's going to take to get this mount? You will be frustrated. You will want to quit. Some days, you just won't get a win in 90 minutes of trying. If you get your hippo and then say, "Well, that's it for me. You all have fun." I will demote you. This is a guild event and I expect people who want to participate will hang around to help their fellow guild members.

Right now, I am willing to devote two days per month to this. I want a hippo. He's got an Alliance emblem on his side. I am not a fan of Arena. I have done it, but it's not where I like to pvp. I will, however, run Arena to get a hippo.

I don't need a committment now. I need you to think about this; think hard and long. Are you willing to put in the time it's going to take to get this mount? Once we know more, it will help us plan, but, right now, it's going to be twice a month, beginning when the PvP season opens. Sign ups will be the first weekend in September.
