Spectacular Death Tabbard

Spectacular Death (A-Llane-US) is the total WOW experience with lots of fun at a casual pace. We see and go to all places in the WOW universe from classic to current content, PvP and arena. This is no-pressure raiding at its finest with friendly, helpful people interested in working through all WOW has to offer together. We will never have a realm first in any endgame, but we will have the most fun when we arrive. Our "race" to see everything is more of a saunter with an emphasis on fun. Our guild motto is "Here. Hold my drink and watch this," so you can see where our emphasis lies.

This guild is not for everyone, however. You must review the Code of Conduct before asking to join. It is also recommended that you read our Raiding Guidelines as well.

For any questions about the above information, please talk to Gimmlette or any officer. If you are interested in hopping on the bus for the ride, please fill out our application. You will be contacted by Gimmlette or the membership officer after the application is received.

Halloween Tmog

Gimmlette a posted Nov 3, 18

I'm a month behind but I wanted to get the Halloween tmog contest winner posted and announce the theme for November. Your Halloween costumes are always a delight. In October, Pegeen won for a "bee-utiful" costume.

And this is a good time to announce the Bee Mount is coming in Patch 8.2.

In a Q&A back in the early summer, Ion Hazzikostas hinted we might see it. No clue, of course, how we're going to get it but we need to have a bunch of hunters with bee hunter pets and battle pets on bee mounts.

So, the theme for next month. Next month's tmog contest will be held on Saturday, December 1st. I am out of town on November 20th and the week before is Thanksgiving weekend. Historically, we don't do much over that holiday so the officers decided to move the event back a day. It's on the calendar for you.

The theme is "The Anti-Tmog Contest". What does that mean? All your gear and your weapon(s) must be gray quality. But Gimm. You can't tmog gray gear. Hey! That's right. That means, you'll be equipping all your gear instead of tmogging it. It has to be gray quality; you know, vendor trash. You won't be able to buy this stuff. While some of the gear vendors sell is visually interesting, it's white quality.

You need gray quality. This kind of gear is found all over Azeroth on any mob. I'm also not restricting what kind of gear it is. For casters, they will be restricted to cloth but warriors, who can wear any gear, go collect whatever you can find. Send your list to either Pegee or Perki. She will be the judge.

Good luck. Let's see what you can find.

Tides of Vengeance

Gimmlette a posted Nov 3, 18

Two new videos premiered at BlizzCon on Friday, November 2nd. Both refer to Patch 8.1, "Tides of Vengeance".

That's...that's...THEM! It's about time. This video references what's coming with the Alliance reclaiming Darkshore from the Horde. It tells us next to nothing about what we will experience in the Warfront, but sets the mood for what possibly is coming. This is great storytelling.

Speaking of great storytelling, this is a gut-wrencher.

He leaves the friggin' door open. Could there be any more "open ended" ending? Again, we don't learn much, but we learn a great deal. Amazing progression of the story.

We're Done

Gimmlette a posted Oct 14, 18

Kil'jaden, you've won, at least for now.

I'm calling it here, folks. Tarsan, Mizauki, Amaera, and I discussed our efforts. Method, who got the world first, needed 700+ attempts. Granted that was at level and we outgear the place, but we can't do this. We have phase one down. But we simply cannot get through the transition phase to phase 2. There is absolutely no margin for error. We can't overgear this and expect to get through the phase because of the mechanics. It's not a question of dps. It's not a question of healing. It's the need to be in two places back-to-back with 2 seconds to move. That's a bit of an exaggeration, but not much. I got more and more frustrated with my inability to move to where I needed to be. We also feel this fight was not tuned properly for the stat squish. Some of the damage being taken from some of the attacks seems way out of proportion to our abilities and armor. We can't change that and it's not a strike against us that we can't get through some attacks without 80% of our health vanishing. That's solely on Blizzard.

You are all amazing. You would, probably, throw yourselves against this boss as much as we'd put it on the schedule. You've already indicated you want to clear this raid in mythic mode. But, I can't ask this of you. I have very grave concerns it will make you hate raiding.

So, we're done with Mythic Tomb, for now. We're going to take a few weeks off, going back in, maybe, in December. Perhaps, with better gear, we can down the adds more quickly, not that that will help in trying to avoid those stupid purple orbs.

Of course, I feel badly that we couldn't down him before I'm pulling this plug. We'd come so far. We'd done so much as a guild. And this is what I want you to take from this. Look at what we accomplished. Guilds aren't doing this content because it is unforgiving and we got this far. We struggled with Maiden, but we downed her. That's also a fight you can't completely overgear. Look at how we learned to coordinate, to work together. It wasn't about going in and bashing things to pieces. We had to learn the fight and learn how to work together.

What's next? Uldir. This coming weekend, we're going into Uldir on LFR mode; the first two wings on Friday with the final wing on Saturday. Given all that we know how to do, and what we've shared as a guild, Uldir is going to feel like a stroll through Grant Park in Chicago. (Pst. Those pigeons are actually the relatives of dinosaurs.) We still have mythic Emerald Nightmare to finish. We got the first two bosses down. We have mythic Trial of Valor. Both of these aren't nearly as hard as mythic Tomb. We haven't finished heroic Nighthold nor started heroic Antorus. There's still a lot of Legion raiding left to do; raiding we can overgear and be successful in without all the stress and headaches of mythic Kil'jaden.

I hope you'll come to Uldir now. We'll do this LFR event and then, next month, go back in in normal mode. There are some fights which could give us fits with mechanics, but the first few bosses are going to be, "Is that all there is?" Let's breathe and go back to figuring out how to down the bosses by not doing the strats as suggested.

Souvlaki I think we made a greta run on this raid, so I'm not disappointed it's being shelved for now. I have to get m...

Because you responded positively to finishing Tomb, that's what we're going to be doing until it's done. Hello Avatar.

If you're playing along at home, you will find this at the next to last spot on your score card. It's a tricky fight with beams to soak and swaps to be made and trying not to push the boss into phase 2. As yes, phase 2.

Lots of green fel death in phase 2. The best we did was 47%.

I have to admit to having the wind knocked out of my sails when I heard Tarsan's news. When I mentioned a desire to finish this; after all, we have "just" two bosses left; I was accused of making a progression or hard core raiding guild out of us. We are not and we never will be. I don't want to do this kind of raiding ever again. It's been unbelieveably stressful for me. I take all the worry on my shoulders and I spent time wondering if we had everything we needed. I worried for no reason. I worried because, well, it's what I do. We brought 30 of you into this raid. We asked a lot of you. I worried it was too much. And when it was clear we couldn't get our goal, as much as I wanted to continue, I worried you would not.

Yet, what you've expressed, both privately to me and in the responses to posts on this site is that this has been an amazing adventure. You're pleased with the challenge and what you've learned about your capabilities as a player. Better yet, you've seen, within this guild, a coming together toward a common goal; a goal technically beyond what we do in this guild.

We're setting aside all other raiding to get Mythic Tomb done. This is not something we can set aside and come back to once a month. This is tough raiding. We all agree. This is a challenge we've never faced and it's maddening, frustrating, and infuriating, all at once. If you are having an "off" day, sadly, we can tell. For some of you, this is not your cuppa. I respect that. You've voted and we hear you.

We got Avatar to 47%. We were not at full strength. We had 18 of 20 people. We will NOT go into this raid without a minimum of 18 people. This raid does not scale if the raid isn't at full numbers. A year from now, when we come back because we're working on achievements, 16 people will be able to blow everything up, but right now, we cannot, even though we overgear the place substantially. For the guild achievement, we must have 18 of 20 people.

Raiding will be Thursday and Friday nights this week. We know we will not have some of our regulars because we're getting into a month where a lot is going on. We get that. If it is at all possible that you can come, please sign up on the IN-GAME CALENDAR. After this week, we will go in only once a week, due to other things we want to accomplish. If you want to go but can't make one night, please let us know. You can post here or send Tarsan, Mizauki, or myself an in-game letter. As we did with last week's raiding, we will make every effort to get people in who want to come.

Also, you MUST be capable of being heard via voice chat. As the 18 people who went on Saturday will tell you, the Avatar mechanics meant we needed to do call-outs and you cannot do that via typing. Sorry. 95% of the things we do here don't require you to be heard. This one does.

We will need foodstuffs for feasts. We are currently using Galley Banquets. These require, among other things, sand shifters, tiragarde perch, and midnight salmon to create. If you can donate these things, please send them to Mizauki or put them on tab 2 of the bank. Thanks. We are using Legion cauldrons and, right now, I have enough herbs to make sufficient cauldrons for the month of October, depending upon the projected raiding schedule. If I need more, I will ask.

This is where we are with Mythic Tomb. We can do this. We can clear this. Once we do, I swear we will not go into this Elune-forsaken place for a year. We have other things we will do; other things which will seem like a walk in the park compared to Maiden.

I thank you for your support of this. Here's to a clear. As always, if you have questions, please ask.

You want to know, because it's on the calendar, what, exactly, is this upcoming "Gathering Day Extravaganza" we have posted. It's a fun way to fill up the bank with mats so we can make more stuff we can use.

Here's how it will work. At 9 p.m., you will fan out into Battle for Azeroth content. Fish, mine, skin, herb. You have one hour to gather as many mats of any kind as you can carry. At 10 pm, you will be called in. Here's where it gets really fun.

Officers will be planted around Boralus. You need to turn in what you have collected to the RIGHT officer. No, we won't tell you until 10 who gets what. Yes, once you've found the correct officer, you can let chat know where they are.

We're going to be awarding prizes randomly based on who turns in what. All these mats are going back into the guild to make raiding materials. Take a look on tab 2 and see what we could use. This is all about helping make us more self-sufficient and, by extension, making us better in our upcoming raids. And, it's a no-stress event.

Come join us. Explore those places you haven't been and find materials we can use.
