Spectacular Death Tabbard

Spectacular Death (A-Llane-US) is the total WOW experience with lots of fun at a casual pace. We see and go to all places in the WOW universe from classic to current content, PvP and arena. This is no-pressure raiding at its finest with friendly, helpful people interested in working through all WOW has to offer together. We will never have a realm first in any endgame, but we will have the most fun when we arrive. Our "race" to see everything is more of a saunter with an emphasis on fun. Our guild motto is "Here. Hold my drink and watch this," so you can see where our emphasis lies.

This guild is not for everyone, however. You must review the Code of Conduct before asking to join. It is also recommended that you read our Raiding Guidelines as well.

For any questions about the above information, please talk to Gimmlette or any officer. If you are interested in hopping on the bus for the ride, please fill out our application. You will be contacted by Gimmlette or the membership officer after the application is received.

Wrathgate Remastered

Gimmlette ao posted Dec 31, 18

This is too important not to share. For those of you who came to WOW late in Wrath of the Lich King or later, this event marked a piviotal turning point in the war against Arthas. Perhaps, as you're leveling through Northrend, you skip this. It's not really required in the grand scheme of getting to max level. But this event changed how we viewed the war and what was going on behind the scenes.

After the red dragons, and the eye belongs to Alexstraza, flowers sprouted in the areas where plague had been. I was tasked with finding Bolvar's shield and taking it back to Varian. Alexstraza comes back and directs you towards the shield. I remember reading the quest text, picking up the shield, and logging off. I couldn't do it. I was sitting at my computer, crying.

Bolvar was Anduin's guardian in Classic WOW. Varian had been kidnapped and Bolvar was charged with keeping Anduin safe. Also charged with his safety was Lady Katrina Prestor who was Onyxia in disguise. One of the best events in Classic was getting someone attuned to Onyxia's Lair and having Prestor's disguise removed. "Dragons in the Keep!" I used to make fun of Bolvar. "Dude, you want me to talk to her? She's just to your right. You talk to her. Don't you know she's a dragon? How dumb can you be?" (Dragons are very good at disguise and convincing you not to believe what you think, i.e. Chromie and company.) And then, Wrathgate.

How could I be affected like this? It's just a video game. It's just pixels. And yet, the storytelling of this one event, and the subsequent attached scenario -- which has been removed -- got to me. I wish those of you who missed the original scenario could do it. So much lore. So much of what we are experiencing right now was foreshadowed with this event. Turn off any other noise you have in your house. Watch this full screen and listen -- really listen -- to what Arthas says.

I didn't do the scenario horde side. Heilandcoo was not high enough level to do the scenario and when she got there, they had removed it. I think, if there's one thing I'd like to come back -- even for a brief time -- it's the Wrathgate full scenario. I think you could pick it up at level 73/74. With scaling technology, we could all be level 75 to run it. I guarantee you won't look at Sylvanas the same afterwards.

I am thrilled someone took the time to remaster this. It is truly amazing. It also exemplifies the ability of those on World of Warcraft to tell stories -- ongoing stories.

Legacy Anyone?

Gimmlette ao posted Dec 30, 18

To the left, you'll find a poll asking about resumption of our Legacy raiding group. We we last saw our intrepid level 80's, they were struggling against the giant purple mosquito known as Onyxia. What we discovered is that at level, Onyxia is a hard either 10 or 25-person fight. We're so used to flexible raiding that these hard caps kind of throw us for a loop. Blizzard has not moved flexible raiding onto all raids. If we were to run Onyxia again, we need either 10 or 25 people. 18 people, at level, doesn't work. So, we set aside the idea of Legacy raiding for a time.

What is Legacy Raiding, some of you ask? In our iteration, you level a toon to a specific level and freeze the experience. That toon stays at that level. A number of us have level 70 and 80 toons just sitting around waiting for the next chance to run content. This is our way of providing -- for those who are interested -- as close to what it was like to run certain content. We can't emulate exactly, a specific expansion's raid experience because the spells and talents are quite different from what it was like. What we are doing is coming as close as we can for those of you who never ran some content at level.

This brings us back to the poll. We officers were discussing restarting the Legacy group. There are a number of possibilities for content we could run. We could do 10 man content and rotate people out, assuming we have over 10 people wanting to do some content. The level 70 group's last raid was Karazhan, I think. We never finished Blackwing Lair or Ruins of Ahn Qirag at level, atlhough we gave them each a try. After Karazhan, the level 70 group was put on hold as we set our sights for level 80, which was a touch more forgiving.

One of the things we did was get people Herald of the Titans. We've been doing this since, I think, Mists of Pandaria.

This is an undertaking and it requires specific gear levels in addition to not beling over level 80. We had to quit as it was not tuned very well and Algalon would one-shot tanks. It didn't seem like this would be fixed even though the WOW Community requested it.

With the amalgamation of 10 and 25-person Ulduar into one raid, Blizzard changed the requirements for the achievement. We are thrilled that it's still available to obtain. After some discussion, we'd like to offer people the chance to get this. Unlike other raids, Algalon has become a flex raid. This means we do not have to limit the run to 10 people. There are gear requirements, but I won't post those at the present time. Right now, I am just gauging interest.

You first step would be to level a toon to 80 and freeze the experience. It does not matter what the toon is. It should be something you will play and have fun playing. Once the toon's experience is frozen, we will do gear runs to get people geared up for this.

So, please vote in the poll and, if you would, sign below if you are interested. If you sitll have a level 80 toon and would be willing to help, I'd like to know that as well. Getting this achievement requires work, but not nearly as bad as trying to down Mythic Kil'jaden. I still have nightmares about that mess. The Algalon fight is one of my favorites. Please vote to the left and comment below.

Thanks.

December Transmog Results

Gimmlette ao posted Dec 30, 18

Ten people came to the transmog contest last Friday. The theme was red and green and wow. We got an eyeful of brilliant and subtle red and green transmogs.

Piickles was the judge by virtue of her win in the November tmog contest.

She even dressed in the theme. Here she is inspecting Rewrew's outfit. The winner of the December contest is Rainsong.

Second place went to Ffalstaff. Third place went to Kylia. Congratulations to the winners.

Now for January's theme. This is another "Anti-Transmog" Event. For this event, you'll need a second set of gear. No transmog will be allowed. What you need to do is craft gear for everything, including weapons. Any expansion EXCEPT Legion and Battle for Azeroth can be used for the gear. Yes, there's a reason. We have a lot of older crafting materials. This is a way to use some of them up.

How this works. If you are a crafter, you are welcome to drop gear, including weapons, onto the gear tab in the bank. Another option is to go to the crafting tab on the roster and click on the profession. This brings up all the patterns available for someone to know. You click on the specific item and that will tell you who in the guild knows it.

The other option is to utilize this thread. It's found in The Transmog Emporium in the forum and is call Transmog Crafted List. In this thread, if you are looking for something, post the name of the item here. If you can make the item listed, please respond affirmatively and list if you need materials to make said item. If you have mats or are willing to farm them, please let us know. This is a whole guild participation event -- even if you aren't going to make an outfit. We have a lot of patterns in the guild bank. Please take a look and learn what you don't know.

Now, a word about some patterns, particularly Burning Crusades era. The issue with BC patterns is that once crafted, they became soulbound to the crafter. This was a huge issue for the community, as we had come from classic where only very high-end gear -- and only in very rare occasions -- had this feature applied to it. We have a huge amount of netherweave cloth stored offsite. I would love for it to be used, but the constraints of creation may limit who you use to craft and wear the gear.

A question was raised if you are constrained to the gear you usually wear. Because you need to wear your gear and not tmog it, no. If you can equip it, you can wear it. All gear slots AND your weapon need to be crafted.

So, have at it. You are welcome to begin crafting and sticking gear and weapons in the bank. Remember, nothing from Legion or Battle for Azeroth can be worn. When you have your gear, send your list to Rainsong. I would advise you NOT to wait until January 27th, particularly if you want something unusual. Some items, such as truegold, still have a cooldown and can only be made once per day. We do not have a stash of truegold, either, so if the item needs this, you need to post now.

Let's see what you can create. If you have questions, just ask.

Friday Tmog Contest

Gimmlette ao posted Dec 23, 18

On Friday, we'll have our monthly transmog contest. The theme this month is "Red and Green". You tmog needs to have both colors. The judge is Piickles, fresh off her amazing win from the November contest.

Make sure your list is sent to Piickles. To get you in the mood, here is something Lil' Gimm threw together.

We'll be in Stormwind, at 9 pm, in our usual spot. There's a lovely Christmas tree there.

Merry(?) Kros-mas?

Gimmlette ao posted Dec 22, 18

Ten of us went into Nighthold to clear it on heroic difficulty and to work on achievements. In every expansion, a raid boss and a dungeon boss have festive hats. We didn't know the festive red hat would be in Nighthold.

Apply the magic of a festive clothing box and don't we look cute? I guess Krosus is the best boss to have bearing the holiday stuff. He's already red and green.

This is what was accomplished.

Skorypon

Chromatic Anomaly        This one is hard. I could not tell when we had activated the search lights. Thank goodness Tarsan knew what to look for.

Everyone had Trillax's achievement, Gluten Free. It's incredibly easy to get. Just don't eat the cake when you do his encounter.

Spellblade Aluriel's achievement -- A Change in Scenery -- requires you to kill her in three different places in the area where she roams. We got one done. Next week, we are going back into Nighthold to do another place. In January, we'll finish up this one.

Star Argur Etraeus

High Botanus Telarn        This one was hilarious. The effects of the fruit were silly and, at level, would have caused all sorts of problems. At our level, we laughed.

Krosus          So, in addition to a lovely hat, we got an achievement. We wiped only once, on the Chromatic Anomaly, because we weren't sure what we were looking for with that achievement. Krosus's achievement is very RNG dependent. If we hadn't had enough adds killed, we would have all had to jump off the bridge. Felmoose observed that Krosus has feet.

Tichondrius's achievement -- Not For You -- I had already but it's very easy to get. Just beat the snot out of him so he doesn't cast the offending spell.

Elisande        requires the sacrifice of a battle pet. None of us will ever forget Trusty.

And finally, Guldan.

In order to make sure we didn't apply too much dps, we removed all our azerite gear excepting the necklace. We also had people remove any trinkets with AOE abilities. We still nuked things ridiculously easy but some of these, like Guldan's eyes, require not attacking adds which have miniscule health. Demon Hunters, Guldan drops a DH only toy, which Felmoose got.

As I said before, we'll be back in here next week on the 27th, specifically to do one more kill of Aluriel. It did take us the full raid time to get these done. We have a request for Trial of Valor so that will be done first before we do this. Side note:  the 27th is also an Officer meeting to plan for January. If there is something you'd like to run, please send someone an in-game letter.

Thanks, everyone, for coming to Nighthold achievement night. We're looking to go mythic on Emerald Nightmare as we didn't get the Mythic version of that raid done.
