Spectacular Death Tabbard

Spectacular Death (A-Llane-US) is the total WOW experience with lots of fun at a casual pace. We see and go to all places in the WOW universe from classic to current content, PvP and arena. This is no-pressure raiding at its finest with friendly, helpful people interested in working through all WOW has to offer together. We will never have a realm first in any endgame, but we will have the most fun when we arrive. Our "race" to see everything is more of a saunter with an emphasis on fun. Our guild motto is "Here. Hold my drink and watch this," so you can see where our emphasis lies.

This guild is not for everyone, however. You must review the Code of Conduct before asking to join. It is also recommended that you read our Raiding Guidelines as well.

For any questions about the above information, please talk to Gimmlette or any officer. If you are interested in hopping on the bus for the ride, please fill out our application. You will be contacted by Gimmlette or the membership officer after the application is received.

Super Heroes Unite!

Gimmlette a posted Jun 29, 17

Our Super Hero transmog contest was held last night. Coming in first was Dorelei with her "Spider Woman" transmog.

Her black widow spider pet is the little black marks below her feet. Some of us saw the pet. Me, on the other hand, saw only bits and pieces. The pet showed up in the group shot.

That's Jaxdia, our judge.

We have to give a shout out to Neocalamity. He's kind of buggy.

Second place went to Starwriter (Mizaruki). Third place was a tie between Winterlight and Maoohm (Gimmlette).

Next month's theme. Make a transmog based on a tabard which is NOT Spectacular Death's. On your appearances tab, click the image for tabard. You will see all the tabards you currently know. Click the drop down menu for "Not Collected" and you'll see all the tabards you can potentially get. I'm at 73 of 84 tabards. Yeah, that Silverwing Sentinels tabard is just not something I'm going to get. I can't stand Warsong Gulch. Tabards are available from the tabard vendor located in the same place as the guild vendor. For some tabards, specifically factions, you will need to hunt down the faction quartermaster to buy the tabard.

Now, you do not need to keep the tabard after you purchase it. Just put it on and learn it. Then, your guild tabard, which you all have, right, right; can be transmogged just like any other piece of gear. When you send your list to Dorelei with your transmog, you will need to list which tabard you are using. The next contest is Friday, July 28th. No pressure, but Mizaruki has her tmog already done.

What's YOUR Super Power?

Gimmlette a posted Jun 21, 17

Ahune's scythe dropped for me on the first run this year. It's a level 850 weapon which, if I ever chose to play as survival, would be much better than the artifact weapon I haven't bothered to level.

This reminds me, however, we have a transmog contest upcoming in one week. The theme is "What is your super power and make your tmog reflect that." Mine's been done for some time now. I just need to send Jaxdia, our judge for this month's contest, a letter with a list of my transmog.

We'll be in front of Stormwind one week from today, Wednesday, June 28th, at 8:45 pm, to start at 9. Please note the different date. Can't wait to see the outfits and hear what people's super power is.

Oh What A Night!

Gimmlette a posted Jun 21, 17

We did this once, a very long time ago. We went into a brand new raid on the day it opened. I'm pretty sure it was Zul'Aman, when it was a raid. It was an unmitigated disaster. We knew, going in, we were woefully undergeared and unprepared for what was to come, but the full extent of the issue wasn't apparent until we actually got inside. If you know the Zul'Aman 5-man, you know you have to hit the gong to open the doors. It was worse when it was a raid. It took us 20 minutes to sort that out. Then the trash. Oh the trash. it took us another 90 minutes to get through the trash at the top of the stairs only to run down the stairs and headlong into a patrol, which pulled three more casters. Decimated doesn't come close to describing the mayhem.

Since then, we've just not been ready for brand spankin' new, kick-the-tires, content. It's opened and we've been off working our way towards it. It looks nice, from waaaaayyy over here, but we're not going to run in on opening day only to be ground into whatever flooring the opening mobs have under their feet. It's defeating and can leave a sour taste in your mouth for running this content when we do get to it. Better to get gear and get prepared and then go in.

But, we find ourselves, for the first time ever, in the same place as every other current content raiding guild. We've cleared everything in normal content. We thought we'd have some time before Tomb opened, but we didn't and so we adapted. And then we found ourselves with a week to go; a week of gearing up via nethershards or mythic plus dungeons. This is an odd feeling. We can go into Tomb of Sargeras with an average ilevel HIGHER than recommended, on the day it opens. We're not a full-time, progression-minded, raiding guild and yet, here we are.

This is heady stuff.

If you've done Cathedral of Eternal Night, and took a few moments to look over the balcony railings into the room below, you see a battle between the forces of the Legionfall and a variety of demons. We often speculated we were looking down into the opening room of the Tomb. We were correct. The first boss shows up right here.

No trash, just a boss. Personally, I like this. It depends upon the story, I suppose, but I far prefer a dramatic boss entrance, like this, to the seemingly miles of trash, such as Black Temple, to get to the first boss.

We did battle cries and wipe excuses for this guild first run. I gave a speech prior to our entering. Said speech you can see on our Facebook page. (Thank you, Neo, for recording it.) We rolled, and, I won the roll for battle cry. I figured I could just order this guy to vacate the premises. That will work, right? After all, we're Spectacular Death. Surely our reputation precedes us, right? I got this, guys. You wait over there.

Um...yeah...about that.

We're getting really good at this "no-strats" raiding thing.

I know quite a few of you will read up on the boss and/or watch videos, but I'm cheered by our sheer enthusiasm in not saying anything beyond the occasional, "Oh so that's what's going on", when you figure out a mechanic. Neo pointed out how good we are at learning and this was so evident with this boss.

We wiped the first time, came back in, discussed the fight, and downed him the second time. Our first attempt brought him to 67%; nothing to sneeze at, either.

So, here we are. Our first kill in Tomb of Sargeras on the first day it opens.

From there, it took us a bit to figure out where the next boss was. Leave it to Mina to be jumping all over and to find, "Hey guys!? There's a tunnel over here." Said tunnel lead us to the next bosses, Harjatan and Mistress Sass'zine.

She flees and we will fight her after Harjatan. Oh look. Murlocs. These seem to be bigger than usual. After a couple of wipes, we were discussing how to defeat him.

I don't think the Rainbow Generator is going to work. Nice thought, though.

We struggled with Harjatan. There's a lot going on in the fight, between the murlocs and stuff on the ground, and AOE's and shared damage. We spent a good 90 minutes working on this boss. Goroth surprised us by being an easily discernable fight and how quickly we were able to down him. We have the tools. The issue is juggling all the various things going in the fight.

You are justified in giving yourself a well-deserved pat on the back. Although we found Harjatan tough, we're in Tomb of Sargeras. Expect to see it show up on raid nights. People need things from the other raids and we want to help them finish these gathering quests which cannot be done in an LFR setting, but we're here and we're on the march toward Kil'jaden.

Thank you, everyone, for turning out. It was awesome! And remember the wise words of Durendal who "caused" a wipe.

This is a friendly reminder that we have a lot of patterns and recipes in the bank.

For all those alts you have, don't forget to check out the guild bank and take whatever you don't know. It helps us so more patterns can be donated. We have a lot of people running older content and donating the recipes which drop. We are grateful for that.

So, have a gander and take things you don't know. It's always helpful, particularly as people are filling out the "You have not learned this appearance".

Guild First

Gimmlette a posted Jun 11, 17

There are only so many superlatives you can use before they become hackneyed. Here we are. Nighthold cleared.

People who have done Gul'dan said Elisande was a much harder fight. They are, perhaps, correct in that we got him down to 50% on our no-strats pull.

So, what did we learn? We have to kill that inquisitor first. All.The.Eyes.

Phase three is visually stunning.

The sky rips open and Khadgar shows up. I'm not sure if he's doing much damage. Most of us, on this pull, were dead. We came back, talked about things, tweaked our attacks, and went at him again.

He's nearly dead here; 2%. When he dropped, I cheered so loudly, I scared my cats. They didn't come back into the room with me for 40 minutes.

A lot of people got good gear.

Everyone shows up at the end.

And, if you've done the quests; the many, many quests; and turn in the Eye of Amal'Thul, you also need to see Oculeth because he has a mana saber for you.

So, here we are. This is the very first time we have cleared all content as a guild before new content was released. I realize "all" is something of a misgnomer because we still have heroic and mythic content to clear, but we have seen every boss of every currently available raid. And we only do this once a week. That's pretty darned good. I am so very proud of us.

Monday night, we will do the Mythic Plus night we were originally going to do on Friday. On Tuesday, the patch drops so there will not be mythic night that night, so you can try to save Chromie; repeatedly, often, a lot. (I'm looking forward to that. It looks like a lot of fun.) On Thursday, we had Nighthold on the schedule. We discussed it as we were coming down from the adrenalin high that was the Gul'dan kill, and we're going to start Heroic Emerald Nightmare. We have regular on farm so let's up the difficulty level.

And, come Tuesday, June 20th, we will go into the Tomb of Sargeras. We have earned it.
