Spectacular Death (A-Llane-US) is the total WOW experience with lots of fun at a casual pace. We see and go to all places in the WOW universe from classic to current content, PvP and arena. This is no-pressure raiding at its finest with friendly, helpful people interested in working through all WOW has to offer together. We will never have a realm first in any endgame, but we will have the most fun when we arrive. Our "race" to see everything is more of a saunter with an emphasis on fun. Our guild motto is "Here. Hold my drink and watch this," so you can see where our emphasis lies.

This guild is not for everyone, however. You must review the Code of Conduct before asking to join. It is also recommended that you read our Raiding and Loot Guidelines as well.

For any questions about the above information, please talk to Gimmlette or any officer. Officers are listed under the "SD Guide" section of the web site menu. If you are interested in hopping on the bus for the ride, please fill out our application. It's under the "Join Us" button at the upper right. You will be contacted by Gimmlette or the membership officer after the application is received.

That's a Lotta Red

Gimmlette a posted Feb 26, 17

The monthly transmog contest was held last Saturday. The theme for February was "Valentine's Day". The imagination of people in this guild is amazing. For all the contestants and their outfits, go to the Terrible Transmog Contest thread. It was tough for Silverkeg to make a decision. Third place went to Minaithelan. Second place was a tie between Mizauki and Moraine. The winner of February's contest was Winterlight.

Winter will be the judge of next month's contest. It will be held on Friday, March 24th in the same location. The lighting is really good here for screenshots. The theme?

St. Patrick's Day!

Mark your calendars. Also, we'll be doing a transmog crafting event on April 1st. While this won't hit the March contest, you can certainly plan for future tmog contests via this event. Read the post below and then start looking at what we can make for you.

I had hoped the recent Q&A with Ion Hazzikostas would give us an idea of a time frame for 7.2. But, from the conversation and answers to questions posed by the community, I don't think it's coming within the next 6 weeks. This is important because 7.2 is going to have the capability to organize all your gear by sets. You will be able to see which pieces you do and don't have of a particular set from tier 1 up to the incoming tier 20. This is very important for those of us who like transmog.

If 7.2 was coming soon (relatively speaking), we were going to put off the transmog crafting event until after it dropped. But all signs do not point to it coming before mid-April so we're going to forge ahead with our event. This will be subject to change if we get new dates.

The gear crafting event will be held on Saturday, April 1st, beginning at 8 p.m. Right now, we are leaning toward either Exodar or Ironforge for the location. We want to be close to an auction house, mail box and the bank. Plus, we don't want a lot of people around. Exodar has access to a forge and anvil close to the bank, which is a decided plus when you're crafting. It won't be in Stormwind to prevent confusion with non-guild members.

You have to do some work here prior to the event. There will not be an abundance of extra materials for people who have not put in a request for crafted gear. If you do not sign up and just show up, you get any dregs. People who sign up will get some, but probably not all, of their requests. Got it? Good. Here's how this will work.

You need figure out what you want. The easiest way to do that is to go to the collections tab on your toolbar.

It's the icon of the horse's head. Open it up.

You need to filter your lists. Click on the piece of gear. Click "Not Collected" and under the "Sources" drop down, click "Professions".

This shows me all the crafted helms Epicurian has not collected. If you hover over one of the helms, it will tell you if it's only available via crafting or if you can obtain the look another way.

For instance, the above helm is available as a crafted piece or as a world drop. The shoulders, shown below, are only available as a crafted piece.

If the look you want has multiple ways of obtaining it, hit the tab button to cycle through the list. The location, in the case of a boss drop, will pop up on the screen.

You're going to need to decide how much you want to have made. We can't make everything you're missing in one evening. We envision this event taking place at least twice a year. Also, Legion end raiding gear is probably not available from anyone in the guild. I would limit what you want crafted to Warlords and earlier to make getting the materials easier. What I did was go to the last page for all my slots and made a list of the last 4 items. These are things which are, for the most part, from vanilla WOW. There was probably not a reason for me to have them crafted, even when vanilla was current content. Your list can include weapons and shirts, if you would like. I discovered, in my weapons list, two staves from archeology were listed. I best get on that.

Once you have a list, go to this thread and post it. Even if you limit yourself to 4 items, with all the weapons available to some classes, your list can get long. Again, do not expect that everything on the list will be crafted. Our goal is to have one thing from each slot made for you, but that depends upon the donation of materials and whether people know the recipes.

Create your list between now and March 15th. Again, every person who posts a list on this thread will get a few things made for them. Even if you won't be able to attend the event, posting a list ensures you'll have a few shinies in your mailbox when you return.

Beyond that, you're done, but I would like to ask you to help with creation. Take your list, go to WOWHead and type in each piece. Make a list of the materials needed. Add up what you need. I have a second post with a shopping list for all the pieces listed. If I got everything crafted which uses bronze, I'll need 110 bronze bars, for instance. We will total up all the pieces requiring bronze bars, for instance, to come up with a grand total. This will be printed by the 18th of March. If you are a gatherer, feel free to use my shopping list as a guide and start collecting materials. They can be sent to Mizauki or SpecDeath. While Amaera is our bank officer, she's getting married in March so she's not going to be as available as Miz and I will be. We have, between the two of us, ample storage for materials.

A lot of things you see on my list, like lava and firey cores and cloth; the guild has in abundance. Your donations are always welcome but don't go out farming mageweave, for instance. We have a lot stored off site. And there are vendor items which we will buy for those crafters who can make things. You do not need to spend money out of your pocket to make an item.

That brings us to crafters. On March 16th, the lists are open to crafters to sign up. You will have time to look over what people want and compare it to what you know, across all your toons. On March 16th, you'll be able to list what you can make. At the moment, to give everyone who crafts the opportunity to participate, limit yourself to one item from each category. You will make a post which reads, "I can make the following items: [insert item name] followed by the name of the toon that wants it. ALL toons are welcome to post lists. Please, for sake of clarity, make a separate post if you are going to ask for more than one toon. The lists will get long enough, as it is. This will also help prevent someone making an Azure Cloth hood and not knowing who wanted it.

If someone has signed up to make the Azure Cloth hood for Epicurian, for instance, don't sign up to make another one. If we discover that we have more than one person wanting the same item, we will give the first crafter who said they can make it, all the mats to make all the items. That will just work out easiest. DO NOT MAKE ANYTHING NOW, not even if you have all the mats. Please wait until the event is ready. If you can't be online but want to craft, Miz or myself need to know. You will still need to sign up here for what you can make, but we'll get you mats. If you have all the mats for specific items, when you sign up, as a courtesy, add "have mats" after you sign up.

For those of us enjoying the transmog contest or who just like collecting gear sets, we think this will be an exciting event. If you have materials gathering dust on some toon, this is, we hope, a great way to use all those up.

I'm sure you have questions. Ask them here, in the comment section. Miz and I will answer them for you.

Dorelei Sounds like this will be a great event!

HA! I guess the joke's on all of us. We do know how to raid. We can follow instructions. We can get the job done. Witness last Saturday.

This is the jump to Xavius. You know, I'm of a "certain" age. I had a pair of bell bottom pants back "in those days" which had a swirl pattern with green leaves that was remarkably similar to this. In fact, running this raid took me back to the days of psychedelic fabric, day-glo, and flowers. There wasn't any paisley, which is probably a good thing.

Once in the Xavius fight, there are lots of black and red adds with a background of gray. I've seen this kind of design in homes.

We did our first pull of Xavius without knowing the strats. Dang folks. We're getting remarkably good at "no-strats" raiding. We got him to 63% when we didn't know what we were doing. It took us 90 minutes, but we did it.

Huzzah! I'm extremely glad they put guild achievements back in for normal content. Warlords guild achievement only when you cleared mythic was dumb. Some guilds will never do mythic content so they will never get the achievement. We'll get there, but that's way far in the future.

The Emerald Nightmare clears up nicely once Xavius is gone.

There is a battle pet, a Dream Whelpling, you can tame. It's only available once Xavius is killed. A few people got a pet, myself included.

From here, since we had time, we traveled to Trial of Valor and attacked Odyn. We did a couple pulls but didn't get him down. That was left for this past Tuesday. We'd been here a couple of times before, but had never seen phase 3.

So. Many. Tornados. Ugh. Fall damage AND don't stand on the lighted floor. "But...it's purdy." It took us 70 minutes but Odyn finally conceded.

Wow. We don't bill ourselves as a "progression raiding guild". Yet, here we are, running current content and being reasonably successful at that. From here, we decided to poke the first boss of Nighthold. Oh look. A reasonable amount of trash.

The trash wasn't hard. The first boss is a dark sapphire blue scorpion. Oh lordy.

There are small blue scorpions. They. Are. Everywhere. It seems this fight is mechanic heavy and add management is going to be a key. For kicks and giggles, we had everyone who could tank, tank, and grab a scorpion. It was hilarious. We never got the boss to less than 85%, but we had a lot of fun being crazy.

Where does this put us with what we want to do? We know a number of you have quests to complete in the Nightmare. Plus, the gear which drops is still a decent upgrade, particularly if you can bring in an alt. It's great to see people offering gear they can't use and finding it's a perfect upgrade for someone else. Also, we have people who cannot raid on weekends and they would like to kill Xavius with their guild. We talked about all of this and our ability to down Odyn. Trial of Valor is not a long raid. It might be one guilds skip, as long as they are doing mythic plus dungeons. As much fun as we had in Nighthold, we are not ready for that place. The raid logs show that we can be successful in Nightmare and Valor. We would only be successful on trash in Nighthold.

Therefore, we are going into the Nightmare for 3 days in March. We know we can clear the first 4 bosses in a one-shot of each. Il'gynoth is a trial for us. We figure it will take the first day to clear the first 4 bosses, then the second date to clear Il'gynoth and Cenarius. That will leave the last date for Xavius. I would agree with the sentiment that Cenarius is much harder than Xavius. Our ultimate goal is to clear the whole raid in 2 sessions. It's just too big to be able to clear in one 2 hour raiding event. We want every boss to be a one-shot. This will help those of us with quests to complete those quests.

If, on day 2, we manage to clear Il'gynoth and Cenarius and have at least 45 minutes left of the raiding time, we'll go to Trial of Valor. The key is that we want to down Xavius on a Tuesday so those people who can't raid on weekends get to kill him with their guild. Also, if you want that battle pet, you'll need to make time to raid that Tuesday. As with day 2, if we kill Xavius in a one-shot, we'll head to Trial of Valor and work on Odyn. We feel, based on the logs, we need to clear Trial of Valor before working more in Nighthold, but we'll go in there as the year progresses. We need to get stronger, in total, before that's where we go.

We'd like feedback on the increased current content raiding amount. We never used to raid current content once a week. Of course, we always had older content we hadn't cleared so getting that done was necessary. Here we are, blinking in the unfamiliar light of current tier raiding. Is this okay with you? For some of you, do you feel left behind? Is it too much? Just enough? It's important to let us know how you're finding what we're planning.

The March schedule is up in-game. It will be posted here in the next few days. Please take a look at it and sign up. The transmog contest is this Saturday and I need Guild Member of the Month nominations by next Monday. This is heady stuff. I really, really like how we work together. It's almost like we know what we're doing.

Zylostout I'm really enjoying doing current content raiding once a week!
Ilrisse I'm certainly all up for more raid days. Right now I can't attend as many as I like because-- surprise!-- my ...

A Bit Over 6 Months Away

Gimmlette a posted Feb 12, 17

If you are new to this guild, you don't know about the Terrapin 500. Every year, we race Sea Turtles around Ironforge and, now, old Dalaran. It's 5 laps around each place.

It's held the last Saturday in August. You ride ONLY the Sea Turtle. No other mount is permitted. This mount is fished up from fish pools in Wrath, Cataclysm, Pandaria and Draenor. You could also get it from Nat Pagel's bag of goodies doing his daily quest in your garrison and the Lunarfall Cavedweller, fished up in level 3 garrisons, also has a chance to drop it. Some people claim it does not exist. Everyone who comes in costume gets some cash and we have extra cash for the winner of the race.

Last year, those of us who could get to new Dalaran, raced around it, running through, under, around and by the demons who were attacking. We always seem to draw a crowd which races with us when we do this. Mizauki was the announcer and a variety of people took screenshots.

I'm posting this now because it is 6 months and 14 days until the 8th Annual race. If you don't have a sea turtle and you want to race, you need to be fishing. I got mine way back in Wrath by fishing in the pools of Angelfish at the lake between Dragonblight and Zul'Drak. I think we'll add new Dalaran to the race format. So, it will be 5 laps around Ironforge; 5 laps around old Dalaran; and 5 laps around new Dalaran. There will be gold to be given out to winners.

So, sharpen those fishing poles and get fishing. August's transmog judging will be held the day before. You could come in your transmog outfit.

Souvlaki I have a Level 3 fishing shack on both alliance and horde sides if we wanted to try scheduling a fishing event. It works...

Forge Ahead or Finish

Gimmlette a posted Feb 10, 17

With the imminent demise of Xavius, we need to look at where we go next. Assuming we down Xavius in one part of an evening, we'll go on to finish the raiding time in Trial of Valor. But what do we do about the 3rd night of raiding Emerald Nightmare on the calendar?

Roanor always asks people, on 5-man nights, what they need. If you aren't signing up, you need to do that. You also need to post to this thread with your list and then returning to it to keep your post updated. Zylostout posted a copy of the spreadsheet she uses to keep tabs on all her characters and their dungeon needs. We can't help you get done what you need to have done if you don't tell us. Please make use of this thread.

Some people have also listed raid needs. That's fine to have them listed here. It's helpful to know. I was looking through my quest log and I have the following:

 and .

I assume many of you have the same two quests. If we want to finish either or both as a guild, it means going back into Emerald Nightmare and running it multiple times. Notice, the quest says "normal difficulty or higher". This means you can't run into the Nightmare with an LFR group and expect to finish these.

So, I'm asking for feedback. Do you want to move on to Trial of Valor? It's got better gear drops, but it's going to be tougher. Or, would you rather gear up a bit more by running Nightmare and, perhaps, finishing these quests, if you have them? We already know we can clear the first 4 bosses in one night. The tree may still give us fits, but once we get past that, we know how to do Cenarius.

In two weeks, the officers will be meeting to plan March (Wait..March? Already!?) and we need your thoughts on where to go with raiding. If we have issues with Xavius, by all means, that comes first, but I'm thinking we'll be okay with him.

In March you can expect our annual "End of Winter Bash, With an Emphasis on 'Bash'", the transmog contest, Legion 5-mans, and an all-guild transmog crafting extravaganza. Also, our Legendary group should be leveling their toons in anticipation of an at level Karazhan run in April. That's already quite a few things so we need to consider where we go with raiding.

Viktorinox Vik here. I have the quests Gimm listed so I'm in for running EN. If we throw in a Trial now & then, we get...
