Welcome one and all to Spectacular Death's web site.

Spectacular Death (A-Llane-US) is the total WOW experience with lots of fun at a casual pace. We see and go to all places in the WOW universe from Classic to current content, PvP and Arena. This is no-pressure raiding at its finest with friendly, helpful people interested in working through all WOW has to offer. We will never have a realm first in any endgame, but we will have the most fun when we arrive. Our "race" to see everything is more of a saunter with an emphasis on fun. Our guild motto is "Whoops...We broke it," so you can see where our emphasis lies.

This guild is not for everyone, however. You must review the Code of Conduct before asking to join. It is also recommended that you read our Raiding and Loot Guidelines.

It's a Fish!

So last night was a simple night of dragon killing. With it being Mother's Day, I decided against any progression raiding so you wouldn't feel the need to "Um...thanks...but I have to kill Morchak" with your family. In reality, I could have put something up on the calendar as most of you had your Mother's Day obligations and events done by the time we raid. Whatever, we had a great group come out to kill Sartharion. Pinkel charged in to tank him, much to everyone, including Hobbell's amusement since he was the designated tank.

You were so kind in your gifts. Stewed mountain trout, a bouquet of wildflowers, a red rose and a 34 and 37 pound redgill. Of course I equipped the fish. Who wouldn't want to go beat on a dragon using a fish? We all agree Blizzard is missing out on a huge opportunity to have battles using fish as the only weapons.

Sarth died in his usual quick way. We played portal roulette and then Valdremar asked if we could kill Ony. Hey, we haven't seen the old girl in over a month. Sure, why not. I'm bringing my fish.

Lots of guild spam as she died in a bit over 3.75 minutes. We didn't get the many whelps achievement so, golly gee whiz, we'll have to go back.

From there, it was, what dragon should we do next. A quick check of the guild achievements shows we don't need to kill Halion although a lot of you need the achievement for that. We opted, because I didn't know the Halion fight on 25-man, to go to Eye of Eternity.

One quick romp and everyone get some achievement and some people got more than one.

It was a very fun and productive night. Unfortunately, we didn't kill anyone in any of the raids, even when someone suggested we hunters misdirect Onyxia onto the lowest roll. Yeah, that was Toto but Nounours had built up so much threat that we couldn't get the dragon off her and onto Toto. You can see Kimmi, who was healing, wasn't taking any chances on getting the misdirect.

This week is the release of Diablo 3. I know a lot of you are going to be playing it. I've been asked by a couple of people if our Mumble server can be used to communicate between Diablo players. You may use room 3. As long as everyone in that room is an SD member, I won't holler at you. But, I might pop in and ask if you could come flesh out a raid or a 5-man, if we are short. Plus, if you care to, someone can make a thread in the forum with Diablo toon names to facilitate hooking up with SD members.

We're running 25-man Ulduar Tuesday and Wednesday. We'll take however many people on who want to go. This is a level 80 raid. Our ultimate goal is the Ironbound proto-drake so we'll be working through achievements. We also have 25-man Naxx and Trial of the Crusaders. All of these are 'by request' raids.

We had a boat load of fun, way more fun that we should have, on Friday night by flying into Orgrimmar, camping a location and just killing anything that came into the building. Taking over the bank was great as it took them roughly 30-40 minutes to rustle up 1.5 times the number we had to drive us out. What this leads to is that we are currently at 247,435 out of 250,000 for the Guild Gankers achievement. Less than 3k for this. We can get it this week if we run Tol'Barad when we can and maybe a couple guild BG's. I'm not asking Lohnar to stand around and be killed 3,000 times. Not happening. Of course, a spontaneous, "Let's go muck about in Orgrimmar" is always welcome.

And finally, speaking of horde, I need to thank Virges, Miltana by another name, for getting Deathtacular another achievement. He killed Delamonde in Tol'Barad and got Deathtacular the Night Elf Slayer achievement. We were all laughing about this. How ironic to get the achievement for killing, not only your guild mate, but also, your wife. That gives Deathtacular a whopping 70 achievement points. I think we are within 20% of level 2 now.

Lots of fun going on this week. See you online.

P.S. Ironlite competitors, there is a new spreadsheet on the last page of the thread for you to update your data. Thanks.
Pinkel Yeah, 3K death for Lohnar would be a bit much, but 2,999 seems certainly reasonable.....
A dozen people logged into Deathtacular on Thursday night. I can't remember when we've had that many running around being horde. If you aren't familiar with DT, it's the horde guild affiliated with Spectacular Death. All the people in DT are people you know from SD. We use Deathtacular as a way to provide the total WOW experience to guild members. You don't have to play your horde very much. When you do, know that there probably won't be a whole lot of people on that side unless we have a horde-centric guild event. It's just something fun to do. I'll probably put a "Play Your Horde Night" once a month on the calendar. I like doing it when there is a holiday or, like this week, the Darkmoon Faire as we can all, regardless of level, and we have a very wide range of levels, do something together.

As you can imagine, the perks you enjoy with Spectacular Death aren't...um...quite available in Deathtacular. We decided to run a couple of 5-mans which the guild didn't have the achievements for. We started off with Ragefire Chasm and then went to Wailing Caverns.

The things you take for granted in Spectacular Death you can't in Deathtacular. Running these two 5-mans were myself on Heilandcoo; Ashandarei on her horde, Cuebiyari; Delamonde on her horde, Zeruch; and Kariel on her horde, Bellanoir. Lohnar came along for the fun of heroic leaping into mob packs and killing them instantly. Cuebiyari gained a level in the fun. With all the people on and the things we were doing, Deathtacular is 3/4th of the way to ... wait for it ...

Level 2. Everybody "oooh" now.

It's interesting to see WOW from the horde perspective, especially if you've only played Alliance. In joint zones, the horde quest lines are quite different from Alliance. If you are interested in the horde side and want to put a toon in Deathtacular, give me a shout. We do have 85's in the guild who like to, on occasion, come to Tol'Barad and hunt for their SD guild mates.

Worandpaws I moved my original main, Vashkiri, into DT last night. If anyone needs any leatherworking done on horde side (or lower ...

Hahahahaha...
Wildhermit Hey Gimm! My son and I will race you to level 2 Our little horde alt-ling guild was just born. ...
There is so much information for you this week. This post will be a bit lengthy but I have a lot of information you need.

First of all, the winners of our "Whack a ... Tauren" contest. The donations, and a full scale assault on both the Alliance and Horde AH's netted us the "Better Leveling Through Chemistry" guild achievement. Thank you so much.

In Ore and non-Volatile Life donations: Ashandarei

In Leather: Worandpaws

In Cloth : Pinkel

In Herbs and Volatile Life: Miltana

In Enchanting Mats: Delamonde

The 5 of you are now entitled to beat up Lohnar in whatever fashion you choose. If you go PvP, he will also, plus he will fight back. As this is the Darkmoon Faire time, I recommend the foam sword you can get at the faire and I'll happily come and see how many SD'ers it takes to lower his health via foam swords.

#2 item. Using these donations, as well as others, I'd really like to see us push towards Master Crafter. With this achievement, we need to make epic gear of an i level higher than 359. We are at 224 of 500 items crafted. We would need donations of everything from volatiles to truegold to make things. One thing that will slow us down is the Chaos Orbs required for pieces. But, this is the beauty of this. Working on this can tie in nicely with an upcoming event.

#3 item. There is a poll to the left about a push toward downing Deathwing during a week in July we'll call "Dragon Week". You have the chance to register how much you can participate in this push. We would need to be in Dragon Soul every week for two days per week between our after Memorial Day run and July 22nd. Some weeks, it will be week nights. Some weeks, it will be weekends so everyone can have a shot at this raid. Based upon who signs up, some weeks will be 10-man and some weeks will, I hope, be 25-man. We already know we can down Morchok so we have a start. The ultimate goal will be Deathwing, but it's going to take a lot of work for us to get there.

What that means is that we'll need to run Cata heroics for everyone so they can get valor points or the better gear that drops in the Hour of Twilight dungeons. I don't want sole concentration in HoT, however. Valor gear is very good gear so every Cata heroic should be run. The added benefit of this is that the Chaos Orbs which drop at the end of a heroic can be used to make the i359+ gear we need for the achievement. If we have an enchanter in the run, whatever gear isn't used during a run can be sharded for enchants. For instance, we're low on Maelstrom Crystals right now. We're also low on the end game enchants which people want for the gear they get. All of this ties together towards downing Deathwing. So, hop over to the poll and vote on your ability to pull this together.

#4 item. Spectacularly Dead is up and running on Ghostlands. This guild is for the express purpose of running oddball events for which a new character is needed. I don't have room on Llane for any new toons so I had to look elsewhere. Our first event is a level 1 Hogger raid. You can see below the requirements for this event.

So, now we come to voting on the guild tabard for Spectacularly Dead. I winnowed, from the huge list of colors and icons, 6 icons and 6 tabard colors. There are hundreds of thousands of options and we'd never agree on anything so I simplified the process. I need to emphasize, these tabard views that I have posted are NOT the ultimate design in the ultimate colors. First, you vote for the icon you like. Then, you vote for the color of that icon. Then, you vote for the background color of the tabard. That's 3 separate votes. The trim stays in the color it is.

Pirate hat. Dark blue icon color. Same green as SD's tabard.
Gnome. Purple icon color. Pink tabard.
Axe. Green icon color. Red tabard.
Dagger. Red icon color. Black tabard.
Crown. Gold icon color. Blue tabard.
Beer keg. White icon color. Brown tabard.

Remember, you need to cast 3 separate votes. I know it might be hard to, say, visualize a blue beer keg on a red tabard, but try. At the bottom right of the poll listing is "Next Poll". Click on that to move to the next poll. This is a popular vote, so whichever icon, icon color and tabard color gets the most votes is what I will go with. Voting will close on the 27th and Spectacularly Dead's tabard will be revealed on the 28th. Talk it up. Get people to vote. The more people who vote, the more fun this will become.

Whew. This is a lot of information. If you've got questions, I have answers.

Pinkel Yep, yep, definitely not Ranhol or Milt's fault on that run. Mostly a pally who kept attacking each and every tentacle ...
Ranhol That wasn't due to me. Let me get that out there, it was others who were trying to wipe us.
Pinkel I think I beat on him enough last night while "healing" him on our Deathwing LFR run. Hands down the worst on ...
To be surrounded by the best guild in the world and to work our way steadily through content we had not cleared and where many in the raid had never been was a wonderful experience.

Icecrown Citadel 25 man was by request. I worried a bit that we might not get enough people to be successful but we were. Yeah, we're geared but there are still mechanics to some fights that can kill us if we aren't paying attention.

Saturday night, we cleared through The Crimson Halls. In addition to the achievements for clearing each wing, we got "I'm on a Boat", "I've Gone and Made a Mess", "Flu Shot Shortage", "Dances with Oozes", and "Nausea, Heartburn, Indigestion...".With 19 people in the raid, that's a lot of guild chat achievement spam.

On Sunday, we came back in, healed Valithria Dreamwalker and took on Sindragosa. We needed a mass death for the guild commercial so Sindragosa's fight was chosen for that. I love it when you follow instructions.

Thanks to Delamonde for the awesome screenshot. We came back and killed her which opened the teleporter to the Lich King.

He was a one-shot.

Everything in this raid was a one-shot. We lost very few people and even the val'kyr mechanic in the Lich King fight did not decimate our ranks. I believe we can say, even though this was a guild first run, the ease with which we did it puts this on "farm" status.

Saturday's group was Junas and Valdremar as tanks. Ashandarei came to help when Junas had to leave. Janarr, Kimmi and Totorodoo on heals. Deathdriver, Delamonde, Gimmlette, Golnan, Kariel, Kasian, Lumpaden, Miltana, Minaithelan, Pinkel, Ranhol, Rineva, Vervaine,  and Wirrieation as dps.

Sundays' group was Valdremar and Ashandarei as tanks. Janarr, Thoril and Totorodoo on heals. Deathdriver, Delamonde, George, Gimmlette, Hobbell, Kariel, Kasian, Miltana, Minaithelan, Pinkel, Ranhol, Rineva, Tulley (Ash's hubby), Vervaine and Wirrieation on dps. Worandpaws participated in the Sindragosa fight but had to leave.

You are an amazing group of people and I thank you for coming along. Everyone got "...the Kingslayer" title tonight if they didn't already have it. The guild achievement is for 25-man heroic which we probably can do with just a bit of difficulty. Those who helped with the 10-man heroic are shuddering at the shadow trap mechanic on the Lich King fight.

Congratulations all.

Wildhermit Grats folks. I have fought Arthas many times... I have 0 toons that have downed him though ...

Up and Running

In anticipation of a fabulously funny level 1 toon attempt of Hogger in June, the guild on Ghostlands is now up and running.

Here is your guild leader and our clever guild name. Given the two events we're going to be doing with these toons, this is an apt guild name. The following toons are already in Spectacularly Dead:  Bambina, Goit, Kitiffany, Batguano, Delamonde, Lohnar and Shiekybaby. Any one of these people can invite you into the guild. Bambina is Vervaine; Batguano is Mtwohb and I believe Shiekybaby is Miltana. I have no idea who Delamonde and Lohnar are. ;) When you have a moment, please log on and put your Spectacular Death name in your public notes. So far, we have a lot of priests and warriors.

Remember, if you're coming to the Hogger raid, you cannot level this toon. You must stay in the Northshire Abby. Every toon joining this branch of SD gets a gold to visit the vendors right outside the Abby or when we pass through Goldshire to get better weapons or gear than the stuff you originally start with and yes, a level 1 can wear the goods sold by the Abby. You and I will need to find a time when we can both log on and I can come to you to give you your gold piece.

This week, we will start the poll to design this guild's tabard. I have not picked a date yet for the June event. I won't be doing that until the end of the month, but the guild is now available for you to make your character so you aren't scrambling to do it 3 days before Hogger.
