Spectacular News

Spectacular Death (A-Llane-US) is the total WOW experience with lots of fun at a casual pace. We see and go to all places in the WOW universe from classic to current content, PvP and arena. This is no-pressure raiding at its finest with friendly, helpful people interested in working through all WOW has to offer together. We will never have a realm first in any endgame, but we will have the most fun when we arrive. Our "race" to see everything is more of a saunter with an emphasis on fun. Our guild motto is "Here. Hold my drink and watch this," so you can see where our emphasis lies.

This guild is not for everyone, however. You must review the Code of Conduct before asking to join. It is also recommended that you read our Raiding and Loot Guidelines as well.

For any questions about the above information, please talk to Gimmlette or any officer. Officers are listed under the "SD Guide" section of the web site menu. If you are interested in hopping on the bus for the ride, please fill out our application. It's under the "Join Us" button at the upper right. You will be contacted by Gimmlette or the membership officer after the application is received.

Tmog Contest Reminder

Gimmlette a posted Feb 13, 18

Our January tmog contest was held the day I came down with the flu. In the tmog folder, I have all the screenshots I took, but can't, for the life of me, find the note on which I wrote who was who. I do know that Gizmo won with his tmog homage to the 1970's disco era.

We met in one of the flight tunnels in Ironforge, above the throne room. It was perfect for showing off the glow. Tarsan was second and Gimmlette was third. In the forum, I have posted the photos and the names of, I think, some people. Please take a look and let me know who is who because I just don't know. Thanks.

So, a reminder, this month's tmog theme is the Olympic Rings. Pick one of the colors of the rings and make your tmog that color. Gizmo is our judge this month and you need to send him an in-game letter with a list of your transmog. Consider the letter the "fee" for entering the contest. We will meet in our usual spot in Stormwind on Friday, February 23rd. After that, if you need help finding elders for the Lunar Festival, we can help you.

I decided not to enter Gimm this time. I'm putting together a tmog on a different character as a challenge. I'm looking forward to your tmogs.

It's coming.

With the game in Alpha, we know that's possibly a 3 month process and then it goes to beta. Having been in Warlords beta, that lasted 3 months. So, perhaps, Battle for Azeroth is 6 months away?

Therefore, it's time for the "Guess The Release Date" contest. In the thread, you will post the date you think BfA will drop. You get ONE GUESS ONLY. You may guess a date already chosen.

The contest starts today and ends on March 11th, which is, incidentally, the return of Daylight Savings time in the US.

There will be fantastic prizes. I'm not sure, right now, what they will be, but they will be fantastic. If you want some inspiration for your guess, go to the thread. I've listed the dates the other expansions released on.

Good luck. Everyone.

A "Ringing" Tmog

Gimmlette a posted Feb 7, 18

Now that I'm not huddled in bed under blankets or cats, it's time to announce the theme for this month's transmog contest. The winners of last month's will be posted shortly.

A special event starts on Friday night; the XXIII Winter Olympic Games begin in PeongChang, Korea. We will be watching bobsled and skiing and figure skating, among other events. (Watch out for those Canadian curlers.)

In honor of the Olympics, Connacher suggested we do an Olympic transmog theme. So, here we go.

As you know, there are five colors of rings. The five rings represent the five continents. A color from the rings can be found in all the flags of nations. Here's your task. Pick one of the colors of the rings. Make your tmog around that color.

We will meet up in Stormwind on Friday, February 23rd, 9 p.m., to see everyone's tmog. Here's an additional personal challenge. For some classes, making an all yellow or all green tmog is as simple as selecting a gear set. Pick a color you don't have in abundance in your wardrobe. Give yourself a challenge to make something you have to go hunting pieces for.

Consider our tmog contest a warm up for the next week when the "Trail of Style" returns.

Storage Guild

Gimmlette a posted Jan 21, 18

As promised, a storage guild for little used toons has been created on Arygos.

Any toon you don't want to delete, but aren't going to play is welcome to be placed in this guild. We have a tabard! And someone in the guild has Thori'dal because we got that achievement as well as the "Design a Guild Tabard" achievement.

You must be a member in good standing within Spectacular Death to take advantage of this guild. If you leave SD, your toons will be removed. This is mainly so your unplayed toons don't wrack up months and months of inactivity and get kicked, but can still be available and avoiding Dark Oaths "please come join our guild" auto invite spam. It's perfect for Legacy toons which you will trot out when we're doing Legacy events. Those toons can be invited back into SD and can then return to "Eats Bacon" when you're done with them.

There was no bacon icon, a situation which Blizzard should remedy. I bought a whole bunch of guild tabards, ran to the bank, bought the first bank tab, and discovered the tabards are soulbound. /sigh So, you'll need to buy your own tabard. BUT, we have the first bank tab and everyone can dump stuff in it. I swear I'm not buying the next one. This is supposed to be a storage guild.

Which brings up a membership issue. There are a few people who still don't come to their required 2 events per month to remain in SD. Letters will be going out and you'll have until March 20th and our annual "End of Winter Bash-With the Emphasis on 'Bash'" event, to rectify this. Two events, that's all we ask for. If that is too much for you to do, you need to leave or Miz will sing a lovely song when she kicks you. I can't sugar-coat that. We want people here who participate in the life of the guild. Some of you don't seem to "get that". Consider this the only warning you will get.

If you need to put toons in "Eats Bacon", just ask in chat. I can hop over to Gaussette and add you.

Timewalking this week, revolves around Burning Crusades dungeons. But also returning for a second go-'round is Black Temple.

We got as far as Bloodboil last time. There was the frustrating bug that if you didn't finish the raid, you couldn't save it so every attempt was brand new. Well, Black Temple, at level, was a 4 hour affair, and we just don't have that kind of time. BUT...this is a great way to see the fights as they were designed, mostly.

We're going to make two attempts to clear. The first is on Tuesday. You need to get yourself to the summoning stone in (old) Shadowmoon Valley by 8:45. Two tanks; 4-6 healers; and the rest dps, up to a total of 30 people, can come. Back in the day, you had 3-4 tanks; 6-8 healers; and the rest, dps, up to 25, so we're a bit better on numbers now.

Any toon from level 70 up, can come. Bring that Legacy toon! There are battle pets and transmog gear to obtain. We aren't sure if we can clear the place in the first 2 hour session. You spend way more time running from point A to point B, than actually killing boss. Concubines. So.Many.Concubines. We will continue the raid Friday night and hope they fixed that bug.

AS A NOTE:  Because we are going back into Black Temple, the transmog contest is moved UP 30 MINUTES TO 8:30 P.M. Be ready to move to the special location at 8:15. That location is somewhere in the Eastern Kingdom. The theme is "Make a Tmog that glows". No enchants are allowed. The glow must come from the piece itself. Those of us with Prydaz will be asked to remove it for the contest. If someone with a mage would come to the contest, it will make getting people to Outlands and Black Temple, easier. We have an alternate plan should Black Temple still be bugged. We will raid and you'll love it.

Thursday, we will be doing the popular "Deepwind Dunk" Special Battleground event. This is so much fun. Even if you hate PvP, you might like this so long as you realize you'll get killed by other players. That's just kinda how PvP works. But the way Blizzard designed this makes it a lot more fun.

In one week, there will be an officer meeting to plan February. If you have something you'd like to suggest, or you need a raid run for you, just send an officer an in-game letter. We have some interesting ideas for events, but we always like to hear what you have in mind.
