Spectacular News

Spectacular Death (A-Llane-US) is the total WOW experience with lots of fun at a casual pace. We see and go to all places in the WOW universe from classic to current content, PvP and arena. This is no-pressure raiding at its finest with friendly, helpful people interested in working through all WOW has to offer together. We will never have a realm first in any endgame, but we will have the most fun when we arrive. Our "race" to see everything is more of a saunter with an emphasis on fun. Our guild motto is "Here. Hold my drink and watch this," so you can see where our emphasis lies.

This guild is not for everyone, however. You must review the Code of Conduct before asking to join. It is also recommended that you read our Raiding and Loot Guidelines as well.

For any questions about the above information, please talk to Gimmlette or any officer. Officers are listed under the "SD Guide" section of the web site menu. If you are interested in hopping on the bus for the ride, please fill out our application. It's under the "Join Us" button at the upper right. You will be contacted by Gimmlette or the membership officer after the application is received.

I'm Guessing It's Popular

Gimmlette a posted Sep 11, 17

Judging by the response to the Herald of the Titans sign-up thread, I get the feeling this event has generated a lot of buzz about it. My bitty hunter, Gimmlette, has passed level 20.

I'm one of those old school people who doesn't care for heirlooms and likes to actually quest and get gear. With the Darkmoon Faire from last week, once I obtained the buff from the carousel, levels came very quickly. Even without the buff, it's not like it was.

If you have any interest in obtaining the achievement, Herald of the Titans, you should read Tarsan's forum post. It appears we have all classes covered, so don't ask me what we need. We have a number of people leveling hybrid classes so we will have the right number of tanks, healers and dps for runs. The goal is do our first run in December, to coincide with our 10th anniversary week. You have time to level and we will start running people through Ulduar for gear in October. You can probably count on a run a week.

For people who aren't me, don't forget the heirloom vendor in the guild hall.

You also might want to take a look for those pieces you don't have for transmog purposes. There are also shirts, mounts and pets which are only available through this vendor.

It's exciting to see so many people interested in very much Legacy content. If you have questions about this event, just ask myself or Tarsan. We'll be happy to get you going.

As we close in on a year of transmog contests, we officers have the feeling this has been quite the successful event.

Transmogs have been very creative.

We are happy to see people enjoying this idea. With Halloween costumes as our October theme (You knew we'd come back to that.), we're looking ahead to next year. We can recycle the ideas we came up with but some didn't seem as popular as others. So, we're looking to you for suggestions for next year. There are no constraints for ideas. If you can pull it off, others should be able to, as well. We've received one suggestion already. We will be doing a "horde" only tmog contest next year, and, as we've seen, you can bring your horde into Stormwind to participate as the guards don't seem to bother horde participants in this location.

If you liked one of the themes from this past year, please let us know. We are more than happy to reuse ideas.

Also, don't forget to donate gear drops or crafting from any level other than Legion, to the gear tab. With people gearing up toons for our Herald of the Titans run, ilevel 226 gear will be greatly appreciated. I see several things on that tab whose appearance Gimm doesn't know. (Salivates) Who knows what gear drop might help you win a tmog contest.

We will be working on the next year of tmog contest themes next month. (Bwahahahahahahaha. Disney should provide all kinds of fodder for ideas and Miz and I are rooming together.) You can post your idea here or send it to either Miz or me via an in-game letter. Remember, all contestants receive 500 gold just for showing up. That almost covers the cost of a tmog. First place is 3000 gold. Second place is 2600 gold. Third place is 2200 gold.

Thanks for participating. It makes us happy to see an event take off like this.

Donations Needed

Gimmlette a posted Sep 2, 17

We'll be picking up where we left off in Tomb on Tuesday. Towards that end, we are in need of donations for specific items.

Dreamleaf - to make the ink that makes the Vantus runes for Tomb.

We can use all herbs to make flasks. Although I got a 14 proc when making cauldrons on Thursday, we are a bit low with flasks.

We need Legion enchants for neck, cloak and ring slots. And we need Arkana for the enchanters to make the enchants. Conversely, sending enchanters your 101+ greens for de-ing will also help.

We seem to be doing okay in gems, but more are always needed.

Remember, you MUST have your gear gemmed and enchanted. We noticed, on Thursday, quite a few of you were missing either gems or enchants. "But I'm just going to get better gear" is NOT acceptable. Just do it.

There are a few donations on the gear tab for our transmog people to peruse. This tab is ONLY for less than 100 level gear. Please don't put current Legion gear here. See below for the transmog event. If you are interested in leveling a toon for Herald of the Titans, the greens you get while leveling would go great here.

Look at This

Gimmlette a posted Sep 2, 17

Thanks to Winterlight grinding rep in Warsong Gulch last weekend, when the Warsong Scramble was active, we got an achievement, Classic Battles. We actually kind of despaired of ever getting Silverwing Sentinels rep. Not a lot of us actually like Warsong Gulch. That one achievement did this on Guild Ox.

There was, quickly, a mad scramble to see what else we could achieve as a guild to take over 3rd place totally. I'm happy with this. It's totally unexpected.

You can pat yourself on the back because this is a team effort, although thank Winter because her achievement is personal and that's what got us the guild achievement. Anymore, achievements are for killing end raid bosses. I miss the ones where we had to gather 25k herbs or craft 500 pieces of gear. I also miss opening up new things we could get for the guild. Don't forget to head to the guild vendor in capital cities. There are pets, mounts and transmog gear available only from that vendor.

Congrats, Winter, on your personal achievement and thanks for the hours and hours and hours of WSG runs.

Winterbow Yay! I helped the guild get a thing!

An Off-Hand Comment

Gimmlette a posted Sep 2, 17

It's these off-hand comments which send us, more or less, careening around the universe chasing something else. It might have been Tarsan, at the officer's meeting, discussing his toons. Or it might have been Mizauki, discussing achievements she wanted to get. Whoever said the comment, it triggered a discussion amongst the officers about whether we wanted to go down this gearing route again in an attempt to get people the elusive Herald of the Titans title. An informal poll on Facebook indicated we may have enough interest.

1) What the heck am I talking about?

Herald of the Titans is an Ulduar-based achievement where level 80s, wearing only i226 gear and carrying only i232 weapons, kill Algalon. You know Algalon. He's the guy made of stars who gets summoned by Brann Bronzebeard to the planetarium. He's also got the coolest start up mechanics in the game.

2) Wow, Gimm. Tell me more.

We did our first attempts in January of 2015. We spent the end of 2014, running people through Ulduar to gear them up. Because the achievement is very specific, no gear, other than weapons, from 25-man Ulduar is able to be used. Doing the encounters on "heroic mode", such as for the achievement Firefighter, also, usually resulted in gear over the ilevel limit dropping. But, who doesn't like achievements so we'd get the achievement and then not worry about it again. We discovered jewelry and trinkets were hard to come by (Imagine that) so, when we did this, people wore Naxxramas-acquired and crafted jewelry and trinkets. And running Algalon, even during gear ups, resulted in drops over the ilevel.

You have to be really careful about your gear. So, while visiting Yogg is a good idea, some of his gear drops are too high of an ilevel.

3) Gotcha. I'm in. What's next?

Tarsan put a fantastic post in the forum about Herald. We will need 2 tanks, 3 healers and 5 dps. What we need from you is which toon you will be bringing and what its class is. If you can tank/heal, we need to know. Some of us have toons at that level. Some of you have jumped into the leveling stream again. But, in order to have an idea of a time frame for this, we need to know who is interested and will have a level 80. Notice, we did not say a "geared" level 80. We just want to know if you intend to participate.

Please read his post in its entirety. Not only does he go over getting geared, but he also talks about the fight. The fight is unforgiving. We were able to get around 18 people their titles in early 2015, but, during the early days of Warlords, it was impossible. The fight mechanics had not been adjusted for new talent trees. We gave up. Blizzard has fixed these issues, but it's still going to be a hard slog. That's what achievements like this are meant to do. Challenge people. We cannot change group composition, meaning how many of each class we bring; but we can work within 10 people to get the most people this title. Sorry Demon Hunters. You're right out.

Bottom line. You need to decide if you want to get in on this. We have a 10th anniversary upcoming and I have ideas for 10 days of excitement. One of those days can be an attempt to get Herald. I think that would be most fitting. Plus, it will give people a chance to level a toon. Do you have the wherewithall to level yet another toon? Only you know. We will start Ulduar gearing runs in October, assuming we have enough people.

This achievement is one of my most treasured. We worked very hard to get this and doing all the preparation for it will give you a great feeling of accomplishment. Think about it and, if you can be ready, sign up.
