Welcome one and all to Spectacular Death's web site.

Spectacular Death (A-Llane-US) is the total WOW experience with lots of fun at a casual pace. We see and go to all places in the WOW universe from Classic to current content, PvP and Arena. This is no-pressure raiding at its finest with friendly, helpful people interested in working through all WOW has to offer. We will never have a realm first in any endgame, but we will have the most fun when we arrive. Our "race" to see everything is more of a saunter with an emphasis on fun. Our guild motto is "Whoops...We broke it," so you can see where our emphasis lies.

This guild is not for everyone, however. You must review the Code of Conduct before asking to join. It is also recommended that you read our Raiding and Loot Guidelines.

For any questions about the above information, please talk to Gimmlette or any officer. Officers are listed under the "SD Guide" section of the web site menu. If you are interested in hopping on the bus for the ride, please contact Gimmlette or an officer for an interview.

A 16th Minute of Fame: Where are they now?

From Olympic medalists and Hollywood actors to the guy next door, millions of people have made World of Warcraft a part of their lives. How do you play WoW? Where World of Warcraft and cool ideas and people meet, you'll find players who deserve 15 Minutes of Fame.

A college choir that specializes in choral arrangements of music from video games. A Hollywood horror actress. A guy known for Moonfiring targets out of the sky. We like to keep track of all the WoW-playing friends we've met through 15 Minutes of Fame. Even the stories of folks who aren't playing WoW anymore are stories many of us can relate to, offering a glimpse behind the curtain among players you and I may very well have grouped with during the past year.

Not everyone has time to respond to a year-end retrospective (we're looking at you and your Game of Thrones shooting schedule, Hodor!), but everyone still has a story to tell. Pull up a chair and our year-end gallery and sit awhile with some friends who play World of Warcraft, too.

Starrefyre Awesome Gratz 2all!
SD makes the sweater look somewhat presentable.

And here's the video of us caroling. You'll want to stick around to the end.

From WowInsider...

Burning Crusade weapon models 'mogged the most

MMO-Champion recently released an incredibly interesting set of data about the most popular items used in weapon transmogrification, finding out that 62% of the top five transmog weapons across all classes are from The Burning Crusade. Only 20% of the top five items are from the classic WoW world, with 18% of the weapons coming from Wrath of the Lich King. 0% of the top five items are from the most recent Cataclysm expansion.

The Burning Crusade is heralded as the golden age of World of Warcraft, a time when the genre that WoW perfected hit a beautiful peak, a wonderful balance between difficulty and accessibility, that appealed to the hardcore MMO veterans who dominated the genre until the Wrath of the Lich King days. Others hated it entirely. No matter which way you lean, it's clear that The Burning Crusade had strong art direction, with otherworldly weapons and armor juxtaposed against traditional fantasy tropes. The fact that Burning Crusade items are the most popular right now does not surprise me in the least.

Check out all of the statistics, as well as each class' top five transmogged weapons, over at MMO-Champion.
We've come to the end of another year and the end of a month. Time to look ahead. First of all, Guild Member of the Month nominations are due by Saturday. For those who are new, full details of the program are here. I need an in-game letter telling me who and why. The only person not eligible for January's honor is myself, having been December's GMotM.

On Wednesday, we will be having a "Choose Your Achievement" night. I want to try this every month. I apologize for not explaining it very well. It's been quite a crazy December. I know that each one of you has an achievement you'd like to get that probably requires some help. Some of you have been blasting through the BC heroic dungeons to get the meta achievement for those. Some of you need a raid or two for a meta. Maybe you need something simple, such as "Going Down". We like doing achievements in SD. Here's your chance.

I need a letter from you stating what the achievement is. Once a month, we'll try to knock off at least one achievement from those people want. I'll try to maximize the achievements we do, so if a lot of people want Karazhan, for instance, that's what we'll be doing that day. This Wednesday, I have a request to finish 25-man Naxx with less than 21 people. We have two wings to finish. I won't take more than 20 people into this raid and we need a couple priests who can mind control. So, take a look at your achievements and send me a letter with what you need help with.

As always, if you are looking for a piece of gear for transmog purposes or you need a run of something for the achievement or for reputation, please let me know. I'm in the process of putting together January's schedule.

That leads to January goals. There have been comments around running Dragon Soul as a guild. I am all for it BUT, we need to meet some criteria before I will put it on the schedule. We have Arthas still alive in heroic 10-man ICC. He's going to be on the schedule twice in January, one weekend and one mid-week. We have to get him down. Next, I have a number of people who want their rusted proto-drake from Ulduar and we do not have the guild achievement from Ulduar. I know a number of you have not downed the final boss of either of those raids. I have downed Arthas only once. You also NEED to see the Algalon fight and get your "Starcaller" title. Expect to see ICC and Ulduar on the schedule twice each, in January. We always do one classic and one BC raid per month.

Add to this a Cataclysm raid. We only cleared Throne of the Four Winds. We have Bastion of Twilight and Blackwing Descent to clear. We've gotten as far as Cho'gall in BoT so expect a three day BoT event to work on that. I'd like to see us down Shannox again and then pick on another Firelands boss. We usually have a couple "organized" PvP nights and several nights dedicated to running Cata 5-mans. There are achievements in those dungeons we can be working on. There's a mount for those who clear those. I like to do a whole-guild event per month and we need days where we have nothing scheduled so you can level a character or just stand in Stormwind and talk with your friends. There's a lot we can be doing and it's a balancing act to stuff it all into a month.

So, before I will put Dragon Soul on the schedule, Arthas and Yogg have to be defeated for the guild achievements and we need to have cleared BoT. Check your schedule and sign up.

Lastly, I'd like to throw an idea at you. We have enough people that we can be running 25-man content. Places like Naxx, OS and Eye of Eternity don't need 25 people to do 25-man content. Possibly Ulduar doesn't either, but ICC still does until we learn the 25-man fights, plus, I've always wanted to remove the buff Wrynn gives you and see just how hard the mobs hit without it. I'd love for us to try 25-man content with 25 SD people. I'm not going to put a 25-man raid on the schedule in January. I want you to consider coming for a raid in February. If we can muster 25 people, it opens up a whole new level of raiding to us. I believe you all enjoy a challenge, particularly in the raiding style that is Spectacular Death. If you are interested in seeing 25-man content with SD, let me know. If we don't have the interest, then I won't consider it.

Now that the Christmas season is winding down, here are some scenes from our celebrations of Winter Veil. You have until January 2nd to participate so if you need the Greench, please speak up.

I should use this next year in the "Caption This" contest but I have to post it now. Notice the upper left corner. That is, I believe, Pinkel.

Here's the group that downed the Greench, after rezzing Pinkel. That's Unthur, Gimmlette, Pinkel, Duellona and Ayuno. Ayuno got one of our famous "ninja-vites". She was a little nervous, afraid her skills wouldn't be enough and would get her killed. Hey, dying is half the fun.

So, when someone says they need the Greench, and you've got 15 minutes to spare, go on along. Amaera pointed out that you can pick up the quest for the Greench up there. There's a snowman between the trees to the west of the cave. You used to have to talk to him to get the next step in the old Greench quest. If you have multiple characters working on the lump of coal, you can park them there and get the daily easily.

I trust you have all been to Ironforge to get your shaken, stirred, carefully wrapped or otherwise mangled present. We were warned, this year it would be a gaudy holiday sweater. I'm not sure the warning was sufficient.

I have this feeling someone at Blizzard got a sweater just like this one Christmas and decided to inflict it on the rest of us. This is quite amazing. I really do want a guild photo of a whole bunch of us in our sweaters; in Ironforge around the tree in the Hall of Explorers? It is the perfect piece of clothing for a bank alt.

You need to wear your sweater to get this achievement:

It's "simple" to get. Head to a horde city, get inside the city boundary, click on the sweater and you sing.

It even counts if you used the gnomification device so long as you are wearing the sweater when you get gnomified.

Again, we need to make sure people who want this can get it. It does take a couple hours and a few deaths to get, but we can certainly get it for those who would like it. You can still get the achievement to shoot horde leaders with the air rifles. If you don't have that one, we can try to help you get it.

There's still a week left to see that those people who want certain holiday achievements can get them.
